The Loan Against Policy Specialist will be responsible for originating, processing, and managing loans secured by various types of insurance policies. This role requires a strong understanding of insurance products, credit assessment, regulatory compliance, and customer service to provide tailored financial solutions to clients while mitigating risk for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Sales & Business Development:
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential clients seeking liquidity against their insurance policies.
- Actively market and promote the Loan Against Policy product to existing and new customers through various channels (branch walk-ins, referrals, cross-selling, outbound calls, etc.).
- Achieve agreed-upon sales targets and contribute to the growth of the secured lending portfolio.
- Conduct thorough needs analysis with clients to recommend appropriate loan structures and terms.
2) Loan Origination & Processing:
- Educate clients on the features, benefits, terms, and conditions of Loan Against Policy.
- Assist clients in completing loan applications accurately and efficiently.
- Collect and verify all necessary documentation, including policy documents, KYC, and other supporting papers.
- Coordinate with insurance companies for policy verification, surrender value confirmation, and lien marking.
- Input data into the loan origination system with accuracy and completeness.
3)Credit Assessment & Risk Management:
- Conduct preliminary assessment of policy eligibility and loan value based on internal policies and guidelines.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with policy-backed lending (e.g., policy lapse, surrender value fluctuations, fraud).
- Ensure compliance with all internal credit policies, regulatory guidelines (e.g., RBI norms), and legal requirements.
- Monitor the performance of the loan portfolio and take proactive steps for recovery or escalation in case of delinquencies (if applicable to the role's seniority).
4) Customer Service & Relationship Management:
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries, and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, fostering trust and loyalty.
- Keep clients informed about the status of their loan applications and any policy-related updates.
- Handle post-disbursement queries and ensure smooth loan servicing.
5) Operational Excellence & Compliance:
- Ensure strict adherence to all operational procedures and compliance frameworks.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all client interactions and loan activities.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on sales performance, portfolio status, and other key metrics.
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulatory changes, and new insurance products that may impact the Loan Against Policy offering.
- Collaboration:
- Liaise effectively with internal teams such as credit underwriting, operations, legal, and compliance.
- Collaborate with insurance partners or agents as required for policy-related processes.
Qualifications:
- Graduate/ Postgraduate.
- 10-12 years of experience in
life insurance
,retail lending
, secured loans, or financial services
, preferably with exposure to Loan Against Policy or similar product lines. - Proven track record of achieving sales targets in a financial product environment is highly desirable.
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in leading loan disbursals against policy for an
Life insurance
company with achievement of least 100% growth - Experienced in working with Operations, Technology, Sales & Finance in creating a holistic approach for executing strategy of loans against policy
Skills:
- Strong understanding of various insurance products (life insurance, endowment, ULIPs, etc.) and their underlying mechanics.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using banking software, loan origination systems, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of credit assessment principles and risk management.
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines related to lending and insurance in [e.g., India - RBI, IRDAI].
- Customer-centric approach with a strong commitment to service quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to present a holistic business performance view to leadership team on the performance of loans
