Key responsibilities

• Design and develop automotive seating systems

  and components (e.g., frames, Plastics, Foams, trim, mechanisms).
• Develop and review detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical specifications using tools such as UG-NX (Mandatory), CATIA-V5.
• Own the seat design BOM and CAD model from RFQ to SOP.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including industrial design, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, ergonomic requirements, and customer specifications. Perform tolerance stack-ups and ensure DFM/DFA principles are applied.
• Participate in FMEA, DFMEA, and design reviews.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including program management, manufacturing, testing, quality, purchasing, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of design milestones.
• Interface with OEM customers for technical discussions, design reviews, and issue resolution.
• Ensure all designs meet applicable safety regulations, ergonomic standards, and durability requirements (FMVSS, ECE, etc.).
• Perform and lead DFMEA, tolerance stack-ups, and design validation planning.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices, design standards, and problem-solving methodologies.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and production launch activities, including root cause analysis for design-related issues.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 5-10 years of experience in automotive seat design and development.
• Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD modeling tools {CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX).
• In-depth understanding of GD&T, DFM/DFA, and material selection (metal, foam, plastic, textiles). Strong knowledge of seating regulations, ergonomics, occupant safety, and NVH considerations. Experience working with OEM programs and Tier-1 automotive suppliers.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
• Ability to travel to suppliers, manufacturing sites, or customer locations as required. Experience with PLM tools Teamcenter.
• Exposure to CAE analysis and design validation techniques.
• Experience leading teams or projects through multiple vehicle development phases. Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, and Six Sigma methodologies.
