Job position: SQL Database Administrator

Location: Bangalore, Hyderabad

Experience Range: 5-8years

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain SQL Server instances.

Manage database objects, filegroups, indexes, partitions, and linked servers.

Backup, Recovery & DR

Design and implement backup and recovery strategies.

Perform point-in-time restores and validate recovery procedures.

Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.

High Availability & Replication

Monitor and troubleshoot failovers and synchronization issues.

Performance Tuning

Monitor performance using DMVs, Extended Events, and Query Store.

Identify and resolve bottlenecks (CPU, memory, IO, blocking, deadlocks).

Optimize queries, indexes, and statistics for better efficiency.

Security & Compliance

Implement database security best practices (logins, roles, permissions).

Configure encryption (TDE, Always Encrypted, SSL/TLS).

Support auditing and compliance requirements (GDPR, SOX).

Monitoring & Maintenance

Automate maintenance plans for backups, integrity checks, and index/statistics management.

Proactively monitor system health, growth, and capacity planning.

Respond to incidents, troubleshoot, and provide root-cause analysis.

Upgrades & Migrations

Perform version upgrades, patching, and compatibility assessments.

Work closely with developers for schema changes and query optimization.

Support application teams during releases and production incidents.

Document standards, procedures, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

56 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA.

Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, backups, recovery models, and HA/DR.

Proven expertise in performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.

Experience with Always on Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication, and Clustering.

Solid understanding of security concepts (authentication, authorization, encryption).

Proficiency with monitoring tools

Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.

Good communication skills, with ability to work in cross-functional teams.
