Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Motor ControlEmbedded Software Specialist to design, develop, and optimize embedded software for automotive motor control systems. The engineer will be responsible for developing motor control algorithms and software modules for electric motors such as BLDC, PMSM, and induction motors, ensuring integration with automotive ECUs and compliance with industry standards.

Role & responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test embedded software modules for motor control applications including speed, torque, and position control.
  • Develop and implement control algorithms such as Field-Oriented Control (FOC), Direct Torque Control (DTC), PID control, PWM generation, and sensor interfaces.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, system engineering, and test for requirements capture, implementation, and validation.
  • Utilize model-based design techniques using tools like MATLAB/Simulink and perform SIL, MIL, PIL, and HIL testing.
  • Develop and maintain low-level drivers for microcontroller peripherals such as ADC, PWM, QEP, SPI, and communication interfaces (CAN, LIN).
  • Debug and optimize software performance on real-time embedded platforms with strong focus on timing, safety, and reliability.
  • Participate in software architecture and design discussions ensuring adherence to automotive standards such as ISO 26262 and ASPICE.
  • Document software designs, specifications, test plans, and validation results as per project requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team skill development in motor control algorithms and embedded software practices.
  • Support software integration and troubleshooting during vehicle-level testing and customer support scenarios

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Science Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded software development for automotive motor control systems.
  • Strong programming skills in Embedded C/C++ and familiarity with RTOS concepts.
  • Hands-on experience in designing motor control algorithms for PMSM, BLDC, or induction motors.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink modeling and algorithm development for motor control.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and diagnostics protocols like UDS.
  • Experience with debugging tools such as JTAG, Trace32, or equivalent hardware debuggers.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards (ISO 26262) and software process frameworks (ASPICE).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Preferred candidate profile

  • Experience with AUTOSAR BSW layer development related to motor control ECUs.
  • Expertise in software testing environments including SIL, MIL, PIL, and HIL.
  • Familiarity with power electronics and inverter control software integration.
  • Previous experience in automotive projects involving electric power steering, electric vehicles, or advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
