Software (Tech) Support Engineer

As a Software Support Engineer at Applied Materials, you will be responsible for providing SW Support for products installed at customer sites globally. You will collaborate with various support functions, R&D, HW, and Application teams to ensure the smooth functioning of our tools. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with industry leaders in semiconductor technology, where you will constantly push the boundaries of technology and utilize your expertise in SW, HW, and Computing. **Key Responsibilities:** - Function as a technical support Tier for SW issues - Contain all field SW escalations that don't require code changes - Independently resolve complex customer issues by analyzing product and system/computing issues (SW, IT, databases) - Provide troubleshooting plans and technical solutions to field and Tier-1 Tier-2 teams - Reproduce customer issues on internal systems and perform Root Cause Analysis - Proactively identify points of failure and drive for resolution - Participate in new SW development, including milestones, new features reviews, and customer demos - Perform new installations/SW upgrades for on-site projects - Develop training programs for field engineers and end users - Collect end-user pain points, develop in-house utilities and tools, and work with the DevOps team to enhance customer experience **Qualifications Required:** - Self-learning capability and passion for new technology - Minimum d years" experience in technical support or a similar Tier-3 position - Proven experience with Microsoft/Linux operating systems - Bachelor/masters degree in computer science, engineering, or other technical fields - Advantageous to have experience in SW development/testing and integration - Willingness to work off-hours, weekends, and travel up to 40% - Excellent verbal and written English communication skills At Applied Materials, we prioritize your well-being and offer a robust total rewards package to take care of you and your family.
