Software Engineering Manager- Mobile Apps

As an Engineering Manager at Flights Core Customer Journey at Booking.com, you will lead the Flights Post Booking team, focused on enhancing the app experience for customers. Your role involves providing booking information, sending flight alerts, improving check-in processes, and ensuring a seamless in-airport experience. Collaboration with operations and customer service teams is key to addressing customer pain points effectively. Responsibilities: - Inspire, motivate, and directly manage engineers in multiple teams - Solve business problems, lead initiatives for process improvement and business opportunities - Address technical needs of the product with a customer-centric approach - Contribute to recruitment efforts and knowledge sharing for team growth - Advocate Booking.com values internally and externally - Foster a collaborative working environment and innovative culture - Lead by example, promoting ownership, proactivity, and collaboration - Drive technical incident management and support team members - Create development, deployment, and integration plans - Ensure continuous quality and process improvement - Cultivate a culture of ownership and technical excellence - Manage technical stakeholders for solution integration - Contribute to evolving best practices department-wide - Coach, support, and mentor the team when needed - Align with wider engineering strategic objectives - Act as a thought partner for Product to define and deliver the roadmap - Participate in architectural ownership and provide guidance Qualifications: - Minimum 7 years of software development experience - Minimum 3 years of directly managing engineering teams - Strong system design and programming skills in Java, Kotlin, or Swift - Experience in developing & maintaining Mobile Apps (Android or iOS) - Proficiency in designing APIs, handling high traffic, and addressing security concerns - Familiarity with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing - Experience in developing and maintaining distributed systems - Exposure to defining and upholding SLOs/KPIs and architecture reviews - Knowledge of cloud deployments, Kafka, Cassandra, and MySQL is a plus - Track record of driving successful technical initiatives for improved productivity, performance, and quality - Proactive attitude, excellent communication skills, and ability to influence and cooperate effectively - Experience in the flights industry is advantageous (Note: Additional details about the company were not provided in the job description),
