Software Engineer

Whats the role

As a Software Engineer Endur, you will support the growth of Shells Trading and Supply businesses by partnering with IT and business stakeholders to design, develop, and deliver IT solutions that address evolving business needs. The role involves working across the full software development lifecycle including defect fixes, enhancements, and special projects using DevOps methodologies. Responsibilities also include prototyping new technologies, integrating third-party tools, managing testing and deployment, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards. This global role primarily supports Shell Energy and SLMT businesses and requires active collaboration within a distributed team environment.

What youll be doing

• Translate functional requirements into technical specifications with input from subject matter experts and design authorities.
• Understand business needs to pilot and prototype new technologies, including procurement, setup, development, demonstration, and deployment.
• Support projects and operations across all phases of the software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, analysis, design, coding, testing, implementation, and production support.
• Design scalable and sustainable solutions for a global business environment.
• Build open, trusting relationships with business stakeholders and users.
• Actively contribute to local and global IT community initiatives.
• Provide mentorship and coaching to team members.
• Assist in onboarding new joiners to the team.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities in ways of working.
• Represent the team in engagements with business stakeholders.

What you bring

• 5 to 8 years of experience across the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on development experience with Endur JVS
• 3-5 years of strong coding experience in Core Java and SQL
• Domain expertise in Energy/Commodity Trading and Risk Management is essential
• Proven ability to support a complex application landscape, including Change management, Application testing, Data integrity and patch management, and End-user support and training
• Experience designing and enhancing business-critical components to maximize value from technology solutions
• Specific experience with Trade Capture, Risk Management, Scheduling & Operations, or Settlements & Accounting
• Deep understanding of Endurs database schema and advanced SQL skills, including query optimization
• Skilled in managing memory issues in JVS and Open Components scripting
• Experience with Connex, Grid Enabled Scripts, and Operation Services
• Proficient in implementing Endurs Trade Process Management (TPM)
• Solid grasp of software design principles, coding standards, and software quality practices
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure DevOps tools, including VSTS, GitHub, and Git
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and delivery demands
