Job Description

As an Assembler Developer working on a cutting-edge z/OS security product at Rocket, you will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing assembler code within a secure z/OS environment. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with cross-functional teams in an agile work setting, following established guidelines while adapting to new technologies, and utilizing JCL, utilities, and ISPF effectively to support mainframe operations. Your commitment to continuous learning and applying best practices will contribute to improving product security. The ideal candidate for this position should have proven experience in assembler programming on z/OS systems, basic to intermediate REXX knowledge, and hands-on experience with z/OS mainframe systems programming. Additionally, familiarity with agile work methodologies, excellent understanding of JCL, related utilities, and ISPF, as well as the ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to Rockets methodologies are essential requirements. Strong attention to detail, the capacity to follow precise directions, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment are key attributes for success in this role. To qualify for this position, you should have a minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and a track record of software development in the real world. Mastery of one or more programming languages, excellent code designing skills, and experience in agile development methodology are also required. Additionally, preferred qualifications include the ability to write code faster than the average developer, produce code with outstanding quality and few bugs, and experience with project management tools such as Jira.
