Job Description

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Banking Team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way
As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role

Job responsibilities

Administer, design, implement, and support highly available and scalable AWS database solutions
Implement data models, database designs, data access, and table maintece codes
Maintain Distributed Databases with High Availability features using Data Partitioning and Database replications
Resolve database performance, capacity, replication, and other data issues
Collaborate with Information Architects and Database Designers to implement the physical data model
Develop database performance monitoring processes and analyze data for optimization opportunities
Provide up to Level 2 on-call support as needed
Manage on-site backup and recovery processes
Plan and execute necessary database upgrades or migrations
Demonstrate technical problem-solving skills
Gain experience with incident management and root cause analysis

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS, DynamoDB
databases
Experience in database design/development, modeling, integration, optimization, systems re-engineering, and operations support for both cloud and on-prem environments
Experience in SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including MySQL and Cassandra
Experience on-premises database systems such as Oracle, or DB2 is required
Experience in migrating databases from on-prem to cloud environments
Experience in implementing and managing database security, backup, and recovery strategies
Experience with AWS management and monitoring tools like CloudFormation, AWS CLI, AWS SDKs, AWS CloudWatch, Datadog, Performance Insights, DB Insights or Prometheus
Expereicne in creating roadmaps, processes, best practices, standards, and strategies for continuous improvement, resiliency, and scalability
Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation
Experience with Atlassian tools like Jira and Confluence

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
Exposure to cloud technologies
