Software Engineer - Data Quality & Governance

The position you are applying for involves technical work within the Data Governance environment, focusing on configuration and light-weight coding/scripting. Your role will require expertise in various Data Governance technologies, including data catalog tooling and data quality tooling. You will be responsible for configuring new rules, monitoring, settings, and integrations, using both out-of-the-box functionality and third-party services and APIs. Additionally, you will participate in the technical design of features under guidance, aiming to attain expertise in key areas. As part of your responsibilities, you will need to effectively communicate technical concepts to business stakeholders and convey business objectives to the technical team. Staying updated on industry trends is crucial, as is taking on tasks of increasing complexity, learning quickly, and making steady progress independently. You will own small to medium features from technical design through completion. In this role, you will provide insight and guidance on data strategy, governance, and stewardship to enhance the data quality environment. This includes supporting research on Data Quality methodologies and tools, partnering with business and technology to identify and implement enterprise data quality initiatives, and evaluating technical data validation rules. Collaboration with key stakeholders to understand data needs, gaps, impacts, and data risk management will be essential, along with identifying opportunities or problems and assessing data quality in different systems. Your qualifications should include a Bachelor's degree in any stream and 2-4 years of work experience. You should have knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data stewardship best practices, the ability to influence across multiple levels, and proficiency in prioritizing and managing complex tasks. Technical skills required for this role include familiarity with Data Quality tools, SQL, MS Office (including Access and Visio), relational database concepts, and query skills. Strong communication skills are vital for this position. Preferred qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's degree, experience in handling expectations and communication with cross-functional teams, knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality programs (such as DAMA-DMBOK concepts and methodologies), understanding of IT development, data management, and change processes, as well as familiarity with data quality reporting methodologies and capabilities.
