Snowflake Administrator / DBA

Role:

Location: Hyderabad or Pune locals only

Working Hours: 5:30 pm - 2:30 am IST

This role supports analytics and BI infrastructure by managing the Snowflake AI Data Cloud, with a focus on secure, scalable, and cost-efficient operations. The administrator plays a key role in the SNOW App Replatforming project, ensuring platform reliability and alignment with the Sigma/Snowflake tech stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision and manage Snowflake accounts, databases, warehouses, and roles.
• Implement access control frameworks (e.g., ACCOUNTADMIN, SYSADMIN) and manage SSO, MFA, SCIM integrations.
• Enforce driver upgrade policies and rotate Personal Access Tokens (PATs) and API keys on a scheduled basis.
• Maintain compatibility across client applications and ensure platform readiness for new features.

2. Performance & Cost Optimization

• Monitor and tune query performance using micro-partition pruning and profiling tools.
• Configure auto-suspend/resume for warehouses to reduce compute costs.
• Apply data lifecycle and storage optimization strategies with monthly audits.
• Track and report Snowflake Business Critical Requests (BCRs) to ensure timely resolution.

3. Security & Governance

• Enforce multi-factor authentication and federated identity protocols.
• Manage secure views, UDFs, and row/column-level security.
• Maintain access history and audit logs for compliance.
• Monitor driver versions and enforce upgrades to maintain secure connectivity.

4. Operational Support

• Troubleshoot access issues (e.g., SAML errors, expired tokens) and coordinate with IT security/helpdesk.
• Maintain documentation for provisioning workflows and platform changes.
• Collaborate with Snowflake-certified partners (e.g., Blue Cloud, DAS42) for diagnostics and migrations.
• Log and follow up on BCRs, ensuring SLA adherence and visibility.

5. Automation & Monitoring

• Develop and maintain automation scripts, lightweight apps, and dashboards to monitor and manage Snowflake environments.
• Integrate automation with CI/CD pipelines and observability platforms.
• Review and update automation tools quarterly for performance and security compliance.

6. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with data and analytics leadership to align Snowflake capabilities with business goals.
• Collaborate with data architects, engineers, analytics engineers, and analysts to support ETL/ELT pipelines, schema evolution, and reporting needs.
• Lead or support migrations from legacy systems to Snowflake and provide best practices.
• Develop and execute migration plans with rollback strategies and validation checkpoints.
• Ensure data integrity, minimal downtime, and thorough documentation of procedures.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• 5+ years of

  Snowflake Administration

  experience.
• Familiarity with

  Sigma, MS Entra, Okta, and scripting (Python, Bash

  ).
• Strong understanding of

  data governance, performance tuning, and automation

  .
• Experience with

  data migration

  planning and execution.

• SnowPro Core Certification

  or equivalent training preferred.
