Slickline Workshop Electrician:
Department: Maintenance / Workshop
Reports To: Slickline Maintenance Supervisor / Base Manager
Location: Workshop Base Onshore –Kuwait
Category: Technical / Maintenance Support
1. Position Summary
The Slickline Workshop Electrician is responsible for performing all electrical
maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on slickline units, workshop
equipment, and electrical systems.
This includes maintaining the integrity and functionality of electrical systems in
Slickline trucks, control panels, pressure control units, and workshop machinery,
ensuring safe and reliable operation in accordance with company and client
standards.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Maintenance and Repair
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on slickline electrical systems,
including:
Slickline winch units (control panels, motors, relays, power supply).
Workshop equipment (compressors, welding machines, lighting, etc.).
Battery chargers, alternators, and electrical harnesses.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults in slickline units, control consoles, and
power systems.
Inspect, repair, and replace wiring, relays, switches, fuses, and circuit breakers as
required.
Maintain electrical integrity of workshop and base infrastructure — lighting,
distribution boards, and safety systems.
Support equipment upgrades and retrofitting to meet OEM and client standards.
Ensure all maintenance tasks are executed following lock‐out/tag‐out (LOTO) and
HSE procedures.
B. Preventive Maintenance & Documentation
Implement preventive maintenance (PM) programs for all electrical equipment
and systems.
Maintain and update maintenance logs, calibration records, and electrical
inspection checklists.
Ensure all tools and equipment used in maintenance activities are calibrated and
serviceable.
Support QA/QC team in maintaining records for client audits and certifications.
Assist in root cause analysis of electrical failures and recommend corrective actions.
C. Workshop & Equipment Readiness
Ensure slickline units are electrically tested and certified before mobilization to
the field.
Perform electrical checks on power control panels, junction boxes, and winch
control systems.
Support the mechanical and hydraulic maintenance teams in integrated
troubleshooting.
Verify grounding systems, insulation resistance, and continuity of all electrical
circuits.
Prepare electrical testing reports before handover to the operations team
D. Safety & Compliance
Strictly comply with company, client, and national electrical safety standards.
Perform risk assessments and toolbox talks before starting any maintenance job.
Ensure proper PPE usage, electrical isolation, and fire prevention during work.
Immediately report any unsafe condition, incident, or near miss to the HSE
Supervisor.
Maintain knowledge of and compliance with ATEX / IECEx electrical standards
where applicable.
E. Inventory & Tools Management
Maintain adequate stock of electrical spare parts, wires, switches, fuses, relays,
and consumables.
Keep electrical tools and instruments (multimeters, insulation testers, clamp
meters) in good working condition.
Assist the storekeeper in material requisitions and tracking of spares.
Label and store all electrical components systematically for traceability.
3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Zero electrical‐related incidents or downtime.
100% compliance with preventive maintenance schedules.
Timely completion of work orders and maintenance reports.
High equipment availability and operational readiness rate.
Zero non‐compliance during client or QA/QC audits.
4. Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering / Industrial Electricity /
Mechatronics.
Vocational training in electrical maintenance from a recognized institute
(preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in electrical maintenance of oilfield or heavy
industrial equipment.
At least 3 years in Slickline, Wireline, or Well Service workshop environments.
Proven experience in troubleshooting low‐voltage DC control systems, hydraulic
control circuits, and generator power systems.
Certifications:
Electrical Safety and Isolation Certificate (LOTO).
Basic HSE / Fire Safety / First Aid training.
ATEX / IECEx awareness (preferred).
H₂S and BA certified (for field mobilization support).
5. Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems (12V/24V/220V).
Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
Skilled in using electrical test equipment (multimeters, megohm testers,
oscilloscopes).
Understanding of hydraulic‐electrical integration in winch systems.
Good problem‐solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Fluent in English (Arabic is an advantage).
6. Working Conditions
Based at the Slickline workshop with occasional field assignments.
Exposure to electrical noise, grease, heat, and mechanical hazards.
Must comply with company HSE and housekeeping standards at all times.
Working hours may extend during job mobilization or emergencies.
7. Reporting & Coordination
Reports directly to: Maintenance Supervisor / Base Manager.
Coordinates closely with:
Slickline Engineers and Operators
Mechanical and Hydraulic Technicians
QA/QC Inspector
HSE Officer
Procurement & Storekeeper
