Skill Set Profile – Surveyor (Total Station Operator)

Project: Leather Cluster – Dighi Port

Reporting To: Sr. Engineer

1. Core Technical Skills

Survey Equipment

Expertise

- Expert in operating Total Station (Leica / Sokkia / Trimble / Topcon) , Auto Level, and

GPS instruments. - Skilled in instrument setup, calibration, and coordinate setting as per

site benchmarks.

Topographical &

Setting-Out Surveys

- Conducts topographic, contour, and boundary surveys for 150-acre site

development. - Able to set out control points, gridlines, and building corners for PEB

structures , RCC buildings , and infrastructure works .

Construction Layouts - Layout marking for 23 PEB foundations , 7 RCC buildings , and utility lines . - Capable

of generating alignment data for 5 km asphalt roads , drains, and culverts.

Road & Utility

Alignment

- Proficient in establishing road centerlines, formation levels, cross-sections , and

invert levels for stormwater, sewer, and water pipelines.

Water Infra Works - Experience in WTP, OHST and underground sump layout marking, anchor bolt setting,

and level control.

Monitoring & Leveling - Responsible for checking excavation levels, plinth levels, roof elevations , and

cross-verifying structural grids.

As-Built & Quantity

Verification

- Conducts as-built surveys , prepares quantities for billing , and reconciles site vs

drawing dimensions .

2. Software & Digital Proficiency

● AutoCAD (2D & 3D) for plotting survey drawings.

● MS Excel and Civil 3D (basic) for coordinate conversion and report generation.

● Data downloading & transfer from Total Station to computer systems.

● Basic knowledge of GPS data integration and Google Earth coordinate mapping .

3. Documentation & Coordination

● Preparation of Daily Survey Reports (DSR) and maintaining Survey Logs .

● Coordinates with Planning, QA/QC, and Execution teams for level verification before concreting.

● Maintains benchmarks, grid references, and permanent markers across the project site.

● Verifies vendor and subcontractor measurements for foundations, plinths, and PEB anchor bolts.

● Ensures survey data accuracy within permissible tolerances (±3 mm in control grid).

4. Quality, Safety & Compliance

● Adheres to MIDC / MSME cluster project survey standards .

● Maintains calibration certificates for all equipment.

● Ensures survey operations comply with project QA/QC procedures and HSE norms .

● Performs periodic re-checks to avoid cumulative errors during structure erection.

5. Behavioral & Functional Attributes

● High precision and attention to detail in all survey tasks.

● Strong coordination with site engineers and subcontractors.

● Punctual, disciplined , and committed to timely completion of survey deliverables.

● Ability to train and guide junior survey helpers for peg marking and instrument setup.

● Capable of working independently on large open industrial sites.

6. Educational & Professional Background

● Diploma in Civil Engineering / ITI (Survey)

● 5–10 years of relevant experience in large industrial / infrastructure / SEZ / port projects.

● Hands-on experience in Total Station operations for PEB and RCC civil works.

● Exposure to cluster or government-linked industrial estate projects preferred.

7. Performance Indicators (KPIs)

● Accuracy of level and grid setting-out within ±5 mm tolerance.

● Zero survey-related rework or alignment deviation.

● Timely submission of survey data vs. project schedule.

● 100% calibration compliance and instrument upkeep.

● Efficient coordination with execution & QA/QC teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹8,086.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
