Job Description

Job Title: Site Speed Specialist Position Summary The Site Speed Specialist is responsible for ensuring optimal website performance, including load times, responsiveness, and overall user experience. This role involves in-depth analysis of performance metrics, identification of bottlenecks, and implementation of technical improvements to boost speed and efficiency. The goal is to enhance user satisfaction and improve search engine rankings through superior site performance. Key Responsibilities 1. Performance Analysis & Monitoring Use tools such as Google Lighthouse, GTmetrix, WebPageTest, and New Relic to benchmark and monitor site performance. Track real-time metrics using Google Analytics, Hotjar, and APM solutions. Conduct periodic performance audits to identify opportunities for optimization. 2. Optimization Strategies Collaborate with development teams to improve front-end and back-end performance. Work with DevOps to ensure that deployment processes do not negatively impact performance. Recommend and implement optimization techniques such as code minification, image compression, lazy loading, and CDN integration. Support the adoption of advanced techniques including HTTP/3, efficient caching strategies, and server-side enhancements. 3. Diagnosis & Troubleshooting Identify the root causes of slow page load times, such as render-blocking resources, inefficient scripts, or heavy database queries. Deliver actionable, technically sound recommendations for performance improvements. 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with UX/UI designers, developers, SEO experts, and content teams to align performance efforts with business goals. Translate technical findings into clear, non-technical language for diverse stakeholders. 5. Documentation & Reporting Produce detailed performance reports with benchmarks, improvements, and suggested next steps. Maintain documentation of processes, tools used, and optimization practices for future reference. 6. Industry Awareness Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and best practices in web performance and optimization. Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies or frameworks to enhance performance. Qualifications & Skills Required Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or equivalent practical experience. Strong knowledge of web performance metrics including TTFB, FCP, LCP, CLS, and TBT. Hands-on experience with performance analysis tools like Lighthouse, GTmetrix, Pingdom, or Dynatrace. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js. Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities. Preferred Experience with DevOps practices and deployment pipelines. Certifications in web performance or related domains. Effective communication and project management skills. Familiarity with server-side optimization (e.g., Node.js, PHP, Ruby). Understanding of SEO principles and how they intersect with site performance. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Measurable reduction in average page load times. Improved Lighthouse scores (mobile and desktop). Enhanced Core Web Vitals metrics (LCP, CLS, FID/TBT).
