Site Engineer

Role & responsibilities

Planning & Preparation

• Review

  approved drawings, BOQs, and specifications

  before starting work.
• Prepare

  work schedules, manpower plans, and equipment deployment charts

  .
• Ensure

  materials and consumables

  (steel sections, bolts, welding electrodes, paints) are available on site.

Fabrication Supervision

• Oversee

  cutting, drilling, welding, and assembly

  of steel members in the fabrication yard.
• Ensure

  dimensional accuracy

  and compliance with design tolerances.
• Implement

  quality checks

  (weld inspections, material certificates, alignment checks).

Erection Supervision

• Coordinate

  lifting operations

  with crane operators and rigging teams.
• Ensure

  safe erection sequences

  (columns, beams, bracings, decking).
• Monitor

  bolting, welding, and alignment

  during installation.
• Conduct

  site inspections

  to verify structural integrity.

Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with

  contractors, consultants, and client representatives

  .
• Coordinate with

  civil teams

  for anchor bolts, foundations, and grouting.
• Report

  daily progress, issues, and resource utilization

  to project managers.

Quality Assurance & Control

• Implement

  QA/QC procedures

  : torque checks, NDT (DPT/UT) for welds, paint thickness tests.
• Maintain

  inspection records and test certificates

  .
• Ensure compliance with

  IS codes, railway standards, and client specifications

  .

Safety Management

• Conduct

  toolbox talks

  and enforce PPE usage.
• Prepare

  method statements and risk assessments

  for lifting and welding.
• Monitor

  safe crane operations, scaffolding, and working at height

  .

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain

  site logs, material consumption records, and progress reports

  .
• Prepare

  as-built drawings

  and handover documentation.
• Support in

  billing and client approvals

  by providing measurement sheets.

Preferred candidate profile

Educational Background

• Degree/Diploma

  in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
• Knowledge of

  IS codes, fabrication standards, and railway/industrial specifications

  .

Experience

• 1-4 years of site experience

  in steel fabrication and erection projects (railway, industrial sheds, PEBs, bridges).
• Hands-on exposure to

  welding, bolting, alignment, and crane operations

  .
• Experience in

  reading and interpreting structural drawings

  .

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in

  fabrication processes

  : cutting, drilling, welding, assembly.
• Knowledge of

  erection sequences, lifting plans, and rigging safety

  .
• Familiarity with

  QA/QC procedures

  : weld inspection, torque checks, NDT.
• Ability to prepare

  daily progress reports, material consumption logs, and site documentation

  .

Safety & Compliance

• Strong understanding of

  site safety protocols

  (PPE, working at height, crane safety).
• Ability to conduct

  toolbox talks and risk assessments

  .
• Compliance with

  railway/industrial safety standards

  .
