Signage Designer

A sign graphic designer utilizes artistic and design software skills to create signs for businesses and other clients. In order to excel in this role, you must have a strong understanding of layouts, signage guidelines, branding principles, and a comprehensive knowledge of various signage materials and fabrication methods. It is essential to stay updated on ADA or Harmonized guidelines compliance and possess knowledge of colors, typography, sizing, and placement for optimal visibility. Additionally, familiarity with sign construction for exterior signs such as channel letters, monument signs, pylon signs, and custom-fabricated structures is beneficial. Once the material and specifications are finalized, you will utilize computer software and sketches to develop prototypes for client approval. This phase of the job requires a blend of creative, artistic, and imaginative skills to design unique signs that effectively convey the intended message. Proficiency in sign-building and fabrication processes is crucial, including file setup for printing and routing, understanding bleeds, drill hole locations, substrate sizes, scaling, and proofing. A sound knowledge of raster and vector graphics, as well as expertise in CMYK and RGB for large format printing, is necessary. Familiarity with equipment and software like CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop is mandatory. Collaboration with Sales/CSM and the design team to meet project requirements, preparation of plans, message schedules, specifications, and detailed drawings, designing various types of signage, participation in virtual client meetings, and coordination with internal departments are integral parts of the job responsibilities. This role requires strong organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A professional demeanor, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently are key attributes for success in this position. Technical knowledge and experience in graphic design, sign industry, CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Pantone colors, Microsoft Office applications, project management, and brand strategy development are essential for this role.
