Job Description


The Shift Engineer Module Operation (STM) is responsible for the overall smooth execution of manufacturing operations at RNSEL. The STM is accountable for tracking daily production, identifying key enablers, and providing solutions to shift supervisors regarding manpower, materials, and methods. They are experts or specialists, tasked with analyzing, investigating, and solving specific operational problems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Ensure and follow all safety procedures in work areas.
  • Coordinate with the day-store and planning team for production order forecasts and ensure timely production order closure.
  • Initiate and implement continuous improvement activities using SPM & CPM charts (e.g., Takt Time improvement, Yield Improvement, BOM Wastage reduction, Manpower reduction, Cost Rejection projects).
  • Coordinate daily with respective line in-charges for:
    • Shift-wise production reports
    • Identifying hindrances causing production loss or high rejection and conducting root cause analysis (RCA)
    • Requesting material codes and raising PRs for required shop floor materials
  • Ensure 5S standards are practiced on the shop floor, maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the unit.
  • Ensure all QMS documents (SOPs, work instructions, checklists, forms, certificates) are updated and controlled.
  • Create and assign clear roles and responsibilities for each team member in work areas to ensure stability and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of materials and parts at the point of use. Ensure Kanban is utilized and executed on the shop floor.
  • Ensure waste materials are discarded in designated areas and containers are properly sealed.
  • Ensure supervisors understand and achieve their daily targets according to the latest business case.
  • Promote and implement a continuous improvement culture on the shop floor through recognition and rewards (R&R) schemes.
  • Develop a skills matrix for shop floor manpower and identify training needs to develop required competencies.
  • Develop a standardized daily meeting structure, mapping regular meetings down to the daily level (e.g., war-room, engineers/team-leads).
  • Plan and visually track the competency of team members; visualize competence needs and plan training accordingly. Strengthen employee pride, job satisfaction, and personal growth.
  • Create visual management systems on the shop floor for tracking key performance indicators and action items for improvement.
  • Identify bottlenecks on the shop floor and enable continuous flow in production. Level different products and create standardized work sequences for operators.
  • Execute lean tools to identify root causes, implement countermeasures to prevent recurrence, and contribute to process stability.
