Shift Engineer

Role & responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform

  preventive and corrective maintenance

  on production machinery and auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnose and repair

  mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic

  faults in a timely manner.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
  
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and update equipment logs.
  

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Execute scheduled maintenance activities as per maintenance plans.
  
• Monitor equipment condition and performance to identify potential failures.
  
• Support implementation of

  TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)

  or

  RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance)

  programs.

3. Shift Operations Support

• Provide technical support to production teams during shift operations.
  
• Ensure smooth equipment start-up, changeover, and shutdown processes.
  
• Coordinate with production supervisors to plan maintenance without disrupting production.
  

4. Safety, Compliance, and Quality

• Adhere to and enforce all

  safety procedures

  ,

  lockout-tagout (LOTO)

  , and

  permit-to-work

  systems.
• Ensure all maintenance work meets

  quality and environmental standards (ISO, GMP, etc.)

  .
• Report and correct any unsafe equipment conditions.
  

5. Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring problems and propose engineering solutions.
  
• Participate in

  root cause analysis (RCA)

  and

  failure mode analysis (FMEA)

  .
• Suggest and implement process or equipment improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.
  

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Record maintenance activities in the

  CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)

  .
• Prepare daily/shift reports on maintenance activities, downtime, and key issues.
  
• Maintain spare parts inventory and raise requests when necessary.
