Server Administrator

As a Systems Engineer at Trantor Software, you will be responsible for managing Linux and Windows servers. Your primary tasks will include monitoring large computer networks and servers for any issues from a central location, performing Level 2 and Level 3 troubleshooting, incident response, and communicating with site technicians to track problems through to resolution. Additionally, you will provide day-to-day support to clients and escalate issues to the next level when necessary. Your key responsibilities will include: - Demonstrating strong OS administration skills on both Linux and Windows platforms. - Managing installation, patch management, configuration, administration, and monitoring of Linux servers. - Handling Volume Manager Administration Network OS/SW installation, patches, server hardening tasks, user administration, and access control. - Providing batch processing and support, including weekend/on-call support as needed. - Understanding streaming and batch processes, data in transit, and data at rest. - Utilizing your strong Linux background, particularly with batch processing and Oracle. - Implementing Linux Heartbeat Clustering and debugging/troubleshooting memory issues. - Ensuring timely resolution of system issues within agreed time limits. - Gaining hands-on experience in system management, system setup, and managing Linux or Solaris based servers, along with configuring them. - Maintaining clear and professional communication with internal and external customers. - Identifying recurring issues and escalating them appropriately for permanent resolution.
