Job Description

Core Sensor Fusion

  • Orientation estimation (quaternions, rotation matrices)
  • Bias modeling (accelerometer/gyro)
  • Allan variance, IMU noise analysis
  • Complementary Filter / ESKF / UKF
  • Gravity compensation
  • Zero-Velocity Updates (ZUPT)

Human Motion / PDR

  • Pedestrian Dead Reckoning (IMU only)
  • Step & gait cycle detection
  • Stairs vs flat detection patterns
  • Elevator motion signatures
  • Cadence, stride modeling under phone orientation variance

Trajectory Understanding

  • Turn detection and heading stability
  • Temporal segmentation of building traversal
  • Corridor vs lobby vs floor motion profiles
  • Barometric floor estimation heuristics

Software & Tooling

  • Python + NumPy/SciPy + Jupyter
  • C++ for real-time implementation
  • Android NDK or embedded experience
  • Experience working with messy real-world data

Nice to Have

  • Worked on Apple Watch / Garmin / Fitbit / Xiaomi / Meta / ARCore teams
  • Built IMU sensors for health, fitness, AR/VR or wearables
  • Magnetometer anomaly rejection in metal-dense indoor areas

Experience

We prefer candidates who have shipped algorithms into real products:

  • 410+ years in sensor fusion / IMU pipelines / wearable motion
  • Demonstrated track record of production deployments, not prototypes
  • Experience working directly with consumer device constraints

Education

Any of the following:

  • B.Tech / M.Tech / MS in Electrical Engineering, CS, Robotics, Applied Physics, Mechatronics
  • PhD welcomed only if applied (industry over academic publications)
