Role Overview

Senior Technical Lead Data Engineer

You will be responsible for driving the next generation of our analytics and data infrastructure by leveraging modern big data and cloud technologies.

Objectives

• Define and implement scalable data strategies that meet product and business needs.
  
• Design and optimize data pipelines for batch and real-time use cases.
  
• Act as a

  player-coach

  – balancing leadership, mentorship, and hands-on coding.
• Ensure the reliability, quality, and governance of data assets across the organization.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable data-driven insights and product innovation.
  

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and optimize

  large-scale batch and streaming pipelines

  using frameworks like Apache Spark on AWS/GCP.
• Design, manage, and automate

  data flows across multiple sources and destinations

  .
• Define and enforce

  data quality, reliability, and governance standards

  .
• Drive best practices for

  CI/CD, testing, and automation

  in data engineering workflows.
• Mentor and guide a team of data engineers while contributing as an

  individual contributor

  .
• Work with product managers, analysts, and business stakeholders to

  translate business needs into data solutions

  .
• Optimize the

  scalability, performance, and cost-effectiveness

  of data systems.
• Stay up to date with emerging data technologies and recommend adoption where beneficial.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (exceptional coding performance on platforms like LeetCode/HackerRank may substitute).
  

• 6–10 years of data engineering experience

  , with at least

  2–3 years in a lead/mentorship role

  .
• Strong foundation in

  data structures, algorithms, and system design

  .
• Proficiency in at least two programming languages –

  Python or Scala preferred

  .
• Expertise in

  big data frameworks

  : Spark, MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, Sqoop, HDFS, Airflow, Zookeeper.
• Experience with

  cloud platforms

  – AWS (EMR, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB) or GCP equivalents.
• Hands-on with

  Databricks Notebooks and Jobs API

• Strong knowledge of

  SQL (RDBMS + NoSQL: Postgres, MySQL, Redshift, Redis)

  with query optimization and schema design.
• Familiarity with

  containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

  workflow orchestration (Airflow, Luigi)

• Proficient in

  Git

  and collaborative development workflows.
• Strong

  communication and problem-solving skills
