Senior System Administrator

Role & responsibilities

a)Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.)

b) Set up and manage server environments, including web servers, database servers, file servers, and mail servers.

c) Configure and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access rights based on

organizational policies.

d) Perform the deployment of PHP and Java applications on servers, ensuring proper configuration, optimization, and seamless integration with the existing infrastructure for reliable operation.

e) Monitor system performance and ensure optimal uptime and availability.

f) Regularly apply software patches, updates, and upgrades to maintain system security and stability.

g) Set up and manage containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) for

streamlined application deployment and orchestration.

h) Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the software delivery lifecycle (build, test, deploy).

i) Implement monitoring tools and dashboards to track application performance,

infrastructure health, and resource utilization.

j) Conduct regular system audits to identify and address potential issues.

k) Maintain backups of critical data and systems to ensure disaster recovery readiness.

l) Implement and enforce system and network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and prevention systems.

m) Monitor for unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and threats.

n) Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and organizational policies.

o) Perform regular security audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

p) Provide technical support to users for system-related issues.

q) Develop and maintain scripts to automate routine administrative tasks.

r) Optimize system performance through resource allocation, configuration tuning, and process improvement.

s) Work closely with other teams (DevOps, DBA, Developers) to support infrastructure and application needs.

t) Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical

stakeholders.

u) Provide onsite or remote support as required, including during non-standard hours to address critical issues or maintenance tasks.

v) Be available for on-call support for system emergencies.

w) Coordinate with Cloud Team for server provisioning, allocation, and re-allocation of resources and security related issues.
