Job Description

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Zendesk, you will play a key role in building the Zendesk Agent Workspace. This critical tool enables seamless work for Zendesk Support agents across various channels within a single ticket interface. You will be responsible for leading the design, development, and maintenance of complex, scalable front-end applications while ensuring alignment with overall business and product strategies. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, mentoring engineers, and fostering a culture of technical excellence will be crucial aspects of your role. **Key Responsibilities:** - Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex, scalable front-end applications - Drive key technology decisions aligned with business and product strategies - Mentor and guide engineers to promote continuous learning and technical excellence - Conduct thorough design and code reviews to maintain high development standards - Optimize application performance and troubleshoot technical issues promptly - Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in products and processes - Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements - Participate in strategic planning sessions and align technical goals with business objectives - Stay updated with industry trends and best practices for continuous improvement and innovation **Qualifications Required:** - 12+ years of industry experience with 8+ years in front-end software development in a SaaS company or product development organization - Proven track record of delivering large-scale, high-quality web applications - Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Typescript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks - Experience in leading architectural decision-making processes and mentoring teams - Deep understanding of cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, and web architecture - Experience with GraphQL services and performance optimization techniques - Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and communication skills - Ability to work independently and in a team, with a proactive approach to process improvement **Additional Details:** Zendesk is establishing a Product Development Center of Excellence in Pune through a BOT model, aiming to create a vibrant hub for innovation. As an early hire, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture and success of the Pune site, contributing directly to its growth and maturity. The hybrid work model offers a rich onsite experience combined with remote work flexibility, fostering connection, collaboration, and learning opportunities.
