Senior Staff Engineer-Data Engineering

What you ll do

We seek a motivated, talented Senior Staff Engineer with good understanding of cloud architecture, data warehousing, data modeling concepts to help architect enterprise data engineering and reporting solutions across global stores organization.

You will be working with product teams, architecture and business partners to strategically plan and deliver the product features by connecting the technical and business worlds. You will need to break down complex problems into steps that drive product development while keeping product quality and security as the priority. You will be responsible for most architecture, design and technical decisions within assigned scope.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test and deploy Data Analytics solutions using Snowflake, Data Bricks, Azure Data Factory and Power BI services to meet business requirements
• Lead discussions on design approaches to solving visible, strategic and complex business problems.
• Identify emerging technologies for consideration for new technology direction and implements proof of concepts to prove the new technology.
• Maintain broad knowledge in the business applications / services that comprise a given technical domain.
• Provides technical subject matter expertise and insight related to the business applications in stores.
• Act in Lead Engineer capacity for medium to large initiatives, prioritizing and assigning tasks, providing guidance and resolving issues.
• Develop and integrate APIs to enable smooth interaction between Data models and other applications
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, and business stakeholders, to deliver comprehensive solutions.
• Design, code, deploy, and support software components, working collaboratively with architects and engineers to build impactful systems and services.
• Monitor and maintain Data solutions, providing technical support and troubleshooting to ensure continuous operation and reliability.
• Create comprehensive documentation for solutions, including design documents, user guides, and operational procedures, to support development and maintenance.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and cloud technologies, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Lead medium to large initiatives, prioritizing and assigning tasks, providing guidance, and resolving issues to ensure successful project delivery.
• Coache and mentor other engineers on the team
• Data Governance, Data Profiling, DevSecOps practices, production deployments, and test planning.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor s Degree or equivalent Engineering skillset / training / work experience in relevant technical domain
• 12+ years of strong development experience with large scale analytics and data warehouse solutions while working in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe) environment
• Strong background in data warehousing, data modeling, and API integrations.
• Demonstrated leadership in the fields of data warehousing, database, or data science.
• Hands-on experience in coding/configuring medium to large scale data integrations end to end whilst maintaining good understanding of Coding standards, Performance tuning and database concepts
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices across security, compliance, DevSecOps, and application architecture
• Strong communication and influence skills. Solid team leadership with mentorship skills
• Ability to understand the work environment and competing priorities in conjunction with developing/meeting project goals
• Shows a positive, open-minded and can-do attitude

Experience in the following technologies:

• Extensive experience with Azure Data Factory , Databricks , Snowflake , and Power BI for building scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and PL /SQL for complex query development, performance tuning, and data manipulation.
• Experience working with distributed architectures , RESTful APIs , and cloud platforms including any one of them like Azure , AWS , or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) .
• Working knowledge of GitHub or similar source control systems for collaborative development and code management.
• Proficient in Shell Scripting for automation of system tasks and data workflows.
• Experience working in both RHEL (Linux) and Windows environments for deployment and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Autosys, Azure Scheduler, or equivalent) for managing batch jobs and workflow automation.

Nice To Have

• Programing languages like C#, .Net, Spark, Python, PySpark.
• Experience with tools such as JIRA, Service NOW.
• Knowledge of IT Security & Compliance
• ADLS (Azure Data Lake Storage)
