Responsibilities What youll do As a Senior Mainframe Developer at Principal Financial Group, you will have a crucial responsibility in maintaining the smooth functioning of our mainframe systems.
Your tasks will involve identifying, diagnosing, and resolving medium to complex system problems reported by our business partners. By consulting system documents, you will prioritize these problems for the relevant technical teams and communicate any downtimes efficiently. Your experience will be instrumental in delivering lasting solutions to recurring problems, and you will be involved in the orientation and training of new team members to uphold our teams high standards. Youll have opportunity to: Build good understanding of the customer and business needs along with products & associated features. Collaborate with product owner and other stakeholders for requirement elicitation. Develop good quality code following established engineering practices and ensure on-time delivery. Provide mentoring via mobbing, pairing, design, and code review Develop application code for programs while ensuring established controls, policies, regulations, and other applicable non-functional requirements Build and Leverage automation and testing practices to support complete test pyramid (Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing/E2E Testing) and resolve defects Proactively monitor and provide support & maintenance to the Product as per the established support agreement. Leverage deep understanding of all layers of software development and expertise in more than one area such as Run time environments, Database, APIs, User interface/User experience, Quality Assurance/Automated testing, Security concerns throughout the program, etc 50% Develop and/or leverage expertise in technologies, frameworks, and tools used in the project. Build understanding of underlying product, architecture, and key design decisions to understand why and participate in technical solutioning of features to better understand how Participate in building cloud native solutions and/or migrating existing application on cloud -infrastructure Get actively involved in Training, self-development & knowledge sharing. Support and develop software engineers by providing advice and coaching Stay informed on internal and external technology trends 20% Drive implementation of DevOps practices and tools Look for improvement opportunities beyond stated problems, evaluate options, and propose solutions by collaborating, leveraging best practices, and making use of available data Participate in Agile or equivalent ceremonies applicable to the execution framework 20% With guidance from your leader, develop understanding of organization s strategy, applicable high-level initiatives, and relate how your work links with the operational plans Performs other job-related duties and special projects/ proof of concepts as required Active participation in Organizational & Team level initiatives Adhering to Principal Information Security Policy and Compliance requirements Who You are: 4 to 7 years of experience in developing, testing and maintaining the application/s with established processes by conducting analysis, eliciting requirements, assisting in design, writing correct and clean code leveraging best practices, contributing to DevOps practices, testing/debugging, working on documentation, participating in quality assurance review, implementation and maintenance, and guiding other engineers on the team.
