Senior Software Engineer I

As a core member of Periscope's technology team at McKinsey, you will play a vital role in the development and implementation of core enterprise products, ensuring that the organization remains at the forefront of technology. Your responsibilities will include leading software development projects, writing and reviewing code, creating software designs, and expanding your expertise in various domains such as database design, cloud technologies, DevOps, and continuous delivery. Key Responsibilities: - Lead software development projects in a hands-on manner, spending approximately 70% of your time writing and reviewing code and creating software designs. - Expand expertise into database design, core middle tier modules, performance tuning, cloud technologies, DevOps, and continuous delivery domains. - Actively learn new open-source libraries, use unfamiliar technologies independently, and mentor developers to enhance organizational capability. - Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to developers on agile engineering practices and guide teams on improvement opportunities. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. - 6+ years" experience in software development, particularly in designing and implementing complex enterprise systems for large-scale data processing. - Proficiency in frontend and backend development with a good understanding of React.js, Node.js, and their core principles. - Demonstrable experience with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (Mongo, Cosmos, Elastic search). - Skilled in cloud infrastructure, preferably with experience in Azure and/or AWS environments. - Proficient in container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, with experience in containerizing Node.js or Spark applications. - Strong knowledge of modern engineering practices, including code refactoring, design patterns, continuous integration, scalability, and security. - Familiarity with Agile methodology, performance optimization tools, and SAAS platforms is a plus. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage client expectations. - Strong focus on customer service and quality, with the capability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse team settings.
