Job Overview

The Senior R&D Manager will lead the research, development, and innovation of new formulations while optimizing existing products This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to align R&D initiatives with business goals The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cosmetic science, dermatology, or chemistry, with experience in regulatory compliance and product commercialization

Key Responsibilities

Product Development:

Lead the formulation and testing of new skin care, cosmetic, and oral care products, ensuring efficacy, safety, and market competitiveness

Innovation & Research:

Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging ingredients, and technologies to drive innovation

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all formulations meet global regulatory standards (eg FDA, EU Cosmetics Regulation, ISO, GMP)

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Work with marketing, production, and quality assurance teams to scale products from lab to market

Supplier & Ingredient Sourcing:

Evaluate and select raw materials, ensuring quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness

Team Leadership:

Mentor and manage R&D scientists and lab technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning

Quality Control & Stability Testing:

Oversee stability, compatibility, and performance testing of formulations

IP & Documentation:

Maintain detailed records, patents, and technical documentation

Qualifications & Skills

Hard Skills:

Expertise in cosmetic chemistry, dermatology, or related fields Strong knowledge of formulation science (emulsions, surfactants, actives, preservatives) Experience with skin care, cosmetics, and/or oral care product development Familiarity with regulatory requirements (FDA, EU, ISO, GMP) Proficiency in lab equipment, testing protocols, and analytical tools (HPLC, rheology, etc)

Soft Skills:

Leadership & team management Strategic thinking & problem-solving Strong communication (internal teams, clients, suppliers) Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving industry

Education:

B Tech / M Tech Cosmetics

Preferred Experience:

8+ years in R&D within the cosmetic/skin care/oral care industry Proven track record of successful product launches Experience with private label manufacturing is a plus
