Job Description

Role Overview: You will be responsible for leading the centralized techno-commercial procurement of Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO) materials and services for an integrated steel & power setup, covering Power Plant, Blast Furnace, Rolling Mill, Cold Rolling Mill, and Coke Oven. Your main objective will be to ensure cost optimization, supplier reliability, and operational continuity through strategic sourcing, contract management, and vendor development. You will report to the Commercial Director and play a key role in managing an annual purchase volume of approximately 800 Cr. Key Responsibilities: - Formulate and execute centralized MRO sourcing strategy ensuring standardization across all plants. - Balance technical specifications with commercial competitiveness to deliver best value. - Drive long-term contracts, rate agreements, and AMC/service agreements with OEMs and strategic suppliers. - Explore global sourcing, localization, and alternate vendor development. - Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers based on technical capability, quality, and cost efficiency. - Build strong partnerships with critical OEMs, service providers, and global suppliers. - Conduct vendor audits, ensure statutory and ESG compliance. - Oversee procurement for mechanical spares, electricals, refractory, consumables, lubricants, instruments, and maintenance services. - Ensure uninterrupted supply of critical spares to minimize downtime across plants. - Implement category management and centralized inventory planning in collaboration with site teams. - Manage 800 Cr annual procurement budget, driving cost savings and spend optimization. - Leverage analytics, TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), and market intelligence to drive negotiations. - Monitor price trends (domestic & international) and hedge supply risks. - Establish transparent and compliant procurement processes aligned with corporate governance. - Maximize ERP/SAP utilization, e-tendering, and digital procurement platforms. - Drive continuous improvement and audit readiness. - Lead and mentor centralized procurement team and coordinate with plant maintenance, operations, and finance functions. - Align procurement priorities with business objectives and operational needs. - Represent the procurement function in management reviews and cross-functional committees. Qualification Required: - Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgy / Industrial Engineering; MBA (Materials / SCM) preferred. - Experience: 18-25 years in large integrated steel / power / heavy engineering industries, with at least 8-10 years in senior techno-commercial procurement leadership roles. - Domain Knowledge: Strong technical understanding of equipment & spares for Power Plant, Blast Furnace, Rolling Mill, CRM, and Coke Oven. Proven techno-commercial acumen in vendor development, negotiations, and global sourcing. - Skills: Expertise in centralized procurement strategy and high-value negotiations. ERP/SAP proficiency, strong analytics, and contract management. Leadership, influencing skills, and cross-functional collaboration.
