Senior Network Test Engineer

Role Overview: As a Networking Test Engineer at the Platforms Team of Google, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of Google's vast network infrastructure. Your role will involve maintaining and troubleshooting network features and systems, collaborating with internal teams to evaluate and resolve network designs and issues, as well as developing test plans and processes. You may also lead projects, provide expertise to team members, and manage project timelines, resources, and activities. Key Responsibilities: - Define, develop, and lead the implementation of test strategies and architectures for critical WAN infrastructure projects. - Design and execute comprehensive functional, integration, performance, and system-level testing for complex network devices and management systems. - Drive the creation and enhancement of scalable test automation frameworks, tools, and infrastructure. - Collaborate closely with Network Architecture, Software Engineering, and Product teams to embed quality throughout the development life-cycle and influence design for testability. - Provide technical leadership in diagnosing and resolving complex issues across multi-vendor network environments. - Mentor and guide other engineers in best practices for network testing, automation, and system quality. - Influence cross-functional stakeholders on testing priorities, quality standards, and release readiness. Qualifications Required: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - 4 years of experience in network engineering, software engineering, or test engineering, with a focus on network infrastructure. - Experience with network protocols, architectures, and testing methodologies. - Experience in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python) for test automation. - Experience in designing and implementing test plans and automation for networking systems.
