Established in 2010 in Mumbai, the Youth Organization in Defence of Animals (YODA) is a registered charity driven by the mission of promoting harmonious human-animal coexistence. YODA provides essential medical attention to injured, abandoned, and mistreated animals, alongside behavioral rehabilitation for emotionally distressed animals. The organization also offers shelter and long-term care for homeless or elderly animals, conducts vaccination and sterilization programs for stray dogs and cats, and leads educational initiatives to raise awareness about animal welfare and combat zoonotic diseases. YODA strives to create a city free of animal cruelty in every form.


Role Description

The Senior Medical Veterinarian will be responsible for overseeing and providing medical care to animals at the OPD facility. The NGO gets large range of cases from bone related issues, to maggot wounds, to variety of tumours and many more. Minimum 5 years of experience in clinic required.


Other duties include maintaining accurate medical records, supervising veterinary assistants, conducting health assessments for adoption programs, and contributing to animal rehabilitation efforts. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Sanguem, requiring hands-on involvement in the organization’s day-to-day activities and operations.


Qualifications

  • Veterinary medical expertise including diagnosis, treatment, and surgery, along with experience handling emergency cases and ensuring post-operative care.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior management and rehabilitation techniques for distressed or traumatized animals.
  • Skills in vaccination, sterilization, and other preventive healthcare practices for animals.
  • Experience managing a veterinary team, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring high standards of practice in animal healthcare.
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and manage veterinary documentation processes effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with adoption teams, caregivers, and raising community awareness on animal welfare.
  • Passion for animal welfare, with prior experience in working with homeless, stray, or distressed animals considered a significant advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science (BVSc) or equivalent, with relevant certifications or licenses to practice.
