Senior Mechanical Engineer - R&D

In the Research & Development department at Prama Instruments Pvt Ltd, your role as a Mechanical Engineer involves conceptualizing, designing, and developing innovative enclosures, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts. You will bring fresh design ideas, challenge conventional methods, and optimize performance, aesthetics, and cost. Collaborating with vendors and workshop teams, you will translate ideas into tangible prototypes using CNC machining, sheet metal, and fabrication processes. Your active contribution to brainstorming sessions, feasibility studies, and ensuring designs are future-ready and manufacturable will be essential. Taking complete ownership of projects and mentoring junior team members are also part of your responsibilities. Key Responsibilities: - Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative enclosures, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts. - Bring fresh design ideas and challenge conventional methods. - Translate ideas into tangible prototypes using CNC machining, sheet metal, and fabrication processes. - Actively contribute to brainstorming sessions with innovative design inputs. - Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated product designs. - Take complete ownership of assigned projects from idea to design to realization. Required Skills & Qualifications: - Bachelors/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - 5 years of experience in product design, R&D, or mechanical development. - Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. - Hands-on expertise in sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding, and finishing processes. - Strong knowledge of tolerance analysis, GD&T, DFM/DFA principles. - Proven ability to take initiative, think out-of-the-box, and enhance design ideas. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in thermal management for enclosures. - Familiarity with PLM/PDM tools. - Exposure to mechanical validation tests. - Knowledge of cost optimization in sheet metal & machining.
