Senior Manager - SME

• Evaluate and underwrite SME business proposals across product lines (Fire, Property, Engineering, Marine, etc.) based on risk assessment and underwriting guidelines.
• Conduct detailed analysis of proposals, assess risk exposures, and decide on appropriate terms, pricing, and conditions.
• Collaborate with distribution channels and sales teams to provide technical underwriting support and enable business growth.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, reinsurance guidelines, regulatory norms, and underwriting frameworks.
• Handle renewals and endorsements with a sharp focus on retention and profitability.
• Participate in development and review of underwriting guidelines, process improvements, and system enhancement initiatives.
• Work with actuarial and product teams to offer feedback from the ground and support portfolio-level decisions.
• Support audits, MIS reporting, and data analysis related to the SME book.
• Train and support junior underwriters or branch staff on underwriting practices when required.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Graduate/Postgraduate with a preference for candidates with a background in insurance, engineering, or finance.

• 5 to 9 years of experience in General Insurance

  , specifically in SME or Commercial Lines underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of SME insurance products and underwriting principles.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and risk evaluation skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities to interact with internal stakeholders and clients.
• Familiarity with IRDAI regulations and compliance aspects related to underwriting.
• Proficient in MS Office, underwriting tools, and internal systems.
