Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned and proactive Plant IR & HR Head to lead the human resources and industrial relations functions at our manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for aligning HR strategies with business objectives while maintaining harmonious employee relations, statutory compliance, and a performance-driven culture on the shop floor.Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

1. Industrial Relations (IR):

Ensure maintenance of harmonious industrial relations with unions and workers.

Handle union negotiations, settlements, and grievance redressal processes.

Manage disciplinary procedures, domestic inquiries, and compliance with standing orders.

Act as a liaison with labor departments, government authorities, and legal consultants.

Prevent and manage labor unrest, strikes, or disputes.

2. Human Resource Management:

Oversee all HR functions at the plant including recruitment, onboarding, training, payroll, and performance management.

Implement HR policies and procedures in line with corporate guidelines and local needs.

Drive employee engagement, motivation, and retention initiatives.

Ensure effective communication and trust-building between management and workforce.

3. Statutory Compliance:

Ensure 100% compliance with labor laws including Factories Act, Contract Labor (Regulation & Abolition) Act, ESI, PF, Bonus, Gratuity, and others.

Maintain updated records, registers, and ensure timely submission of statutory returns.

Conduct regular audits of compliance and resolve issues proactively.

4. Contract Labor Management:

Manage and monitor contract labor deployment, attendance, and contractor compliance.

Implement access control systems and ensure fair treatment and welfare of contract workers.

5. Training & Development:

Identify skill gaps and design training programs for workers, staff, and frontline managers.

Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement on the shop floor.

6. HR Operations & MIS:

Maintain HR records, dashboards, and reports including absenteeism, attrition, and manpower costs.

Lead HR automation efforts and drive digitization of records and processes.

7. Administrative Oversight:

Supervise plant-level administrative services such as canteen, transportation, security, and housekeeping.

Ensure workplace discipline and ethical conduct across levels.

Qualifications:

Postgraduate in HR / IR / Labour Welfare / Personnel Management (MBA / MSW / MLW / PGDHRM)

LLB preferred (for handling legal aspects and labor laws)

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 - 12 years of experience in plant HR & IR functions in a medium to large-scale manufacturing setup

Experience in unionized environments and handling wage settlements is essential

Key Skills:

Strong knowledge of labour laws and statutory compliance

Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict-resolution skills

Proficient in HR systems, payroll, and ERP-based HR modules

Sound judgment and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
