Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer Storage

The Mainframe Systems Programmer provides support for ongoing projects involving the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and other system software. Additionally, they are responsible for the maintenance and debugging of systems software, as well as coordinating the IOGEN work for new MF hardware. The role also includes researching and evaluating new software and hardware products, assisting team members with technical questions, and resolving problems. The Mainframe Systems Programmer is tasked with monitoring and tuning systems software, utilizing functional knowledge of z/OS components and in-depth understanding of support products like tape management, scheduling, security, and monitoring systems. Duties and Responsibilities: - Provides proven, formal mentorship consistently - Takes ownership of high complexity assignments - Owns moderate complexity assignments (1 or more) - Provides oversight/review for low complexity assignments - Leads self and others regularly, established as Product Subject Matter Expert or specialist - Understands how the big picture aligns with Ensono's overall strategy - Offers thought leadership within GTS - Offers Technical Architect storage support for HW and SW Software solutions - Utilizes strong communication skills to engage in client meetings and new business deals - Collaborates directly with Hardware and Software vendors on new solutions - Reviews and analyzes current client software and requirements to determine cost-effective and standard software solutions for business proposals - Enhances the performance of others through mentoring and guidance - Designs automated monitoring techniques for problem identification and prevention - Provides and documents problem analysis, resolution, and prevention, designing procedures and best practice techniques Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have direct reports but may mentor less experienced associates in the role.
