Key Responsibilities
- • Design and program complex lighting rigs using GrandMA3 and Avolites Arena consoles, ensuring seamless integration with other production elements.
- • Develop and execute lighting cues, effects, and sequences for live shows, including dynamic color mixing, beam control, and automated movements.
- • Integrate ShowKontrol software for multi-system synchronization, managing timelines, triggers, and automation across lighting, audio, and video systems.
- • Configure and troubleshoot Art-Net networks for DMX control, optimizing data flow between consoles, fixtures, and peripherals.
- • Program and operate laser systems using FB4 controllers (e.g., Pangolin QuickShow or Beyond), transmitting signals via ILDA protocols to create precise, synchronized laser projections and effects.
- • Conduct pre-production planning, including fixture selection, patching, and simulation in virtual environments.
- • Perform on-site setup, rehearsals, and live operation, adapting to real-time changes and ensuring safety compliance with laser and lighting standards.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to innovate visual concepts, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain equipment inventories.
- • Mentor junior technicians and provide training on advanced console operations and protocols.
Preferred Skills
- • Certification in GrandMA3 or Avolites training programs.
- • Experience with additional software like Vectorworks, Capture, or Resolume for pre-visualization.
- • Knowledge of ethernet-based protocols beyond Art-Net, such as sACN or OSC.
- • Background in laser safety (e.g., ILDA or FDA compliance) and variance applications for public shows.
- • Portfolio demonstrating innovative lighting and laser designs from past projects.

Required Qualifications
- • Proven experience (5+ years) as a Lighting Designer/Programmer in high-stakes environments such as arenas, festivals, or touring productions.
- • Expert-level proficiency with GrandMA3 software and hardware, including advanced features like macros, effects engines, and networking.
- • Strong command of Avolites Arena consoles, with experience in Titan OS programming, pixel mapping, and fixture personality editing.
- • Hands-on expertise with ShowKontrol for show automation and integration.
- • In-depth knowledge of Art-Net protocol implementation, including network setup, universe management, and compatibility with various DMX devices.
- • Experience programming lasers via FB4 interfaces (e.g., Pangolin systems) and ILDA standards, including safety protocols and beam alignment.
- • Familiarity with industry-standard lighting fixtures (e.g., moving heads, LEDs, strobes) and laser projectors.
- • Bachelors degree in Technical Theatre, Lighting Design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel for events.
- • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure settings.
