OVERVIEW:

Senior Lecturer in AI & Data Science / Head of Data Science.

The ideal candidate will bring strong subject expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, data engineering, and computational modelling, combined with excellent teaching, mentoring, and academic leadership capabilities. The role involves module leadership, assessment oversight, research engagement, and collaboration with academic and industry partners to enhance programme quality and relevance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver high-quality lectures, tutorials, and workshops across AI, data science, and computing modules.

Lead assigned modules and oversee all assessment, grading, moderation, and academic quality assurance processes.

Ensure alignment with international academic frameworks and standards.

Supervise undergraduate dissertations, research projects, and applied industry-focused assignments.

Provide academic advising, mentorship, and technical support to students, especially in programming, analytics, and applied AI.

Contribute to curriculum development, digital learning initiatives, and innovative teaching practices.

Engage in research, scholarly activity, consultancy, and professional development.

Collaborate with internal academic teams and external partners to strengthen academic delivery and industry relevance.

Participate in academic committees, programme reviews, and administrative processes as required.

PRE-REQUISITES:

Essential:

Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field.

Proven university-level teaching experience in AI, machine learning, analytics, and related disciplines.

Strong understanding of ML algorithms, statistical modelling, data mining, and data-driven problem solving.

Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib).

Demonstrated experience in designing assessments, coursework, and projects that meet international academic standards.

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse student groups.

Experience supervising student projects and guiding research work.

Familiarity with academic administration, curriculum processes, and quality assurance practices.

Desirable:

Research or industry experience in applied AI, deep learning, big data, or computational intelligence.

Evidence of publications, conference contributions, or research supervision.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.

Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives and academic innovation.
