Senior Java Developer

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and architecture of backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Implement scalable, cloud-native solutions following best practices in design and performance optimization.
• Define and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and technical guidelines.
• Ensure security, fault tolerance, and resilience across distributed systems.
• Proactively monitor system health, debug production issues, and use observability tools (logging, metrics, tracing) to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Participate in on-call rotations and contribute to incident resolution and root cause analysis.
• Continuously monitor and maintain system health using observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and service degradation issues.
• Conduct code and design reviews, ensuring adherence to clean architecture principles.
• Promote test-driven development (TDD) and high unit/integration test coverage.
• Actively reduce technical debt and improve maintainability through refactoring.
• Integrate AI/ML-assisted tools for anomaly detection, log analytics, and automated performance insights.
• Collaborate with architecture, DevOps, QA, and Product teams to design and deliver enterprise-grade features.
• Partner with staff and principal engineers to ensure system-level design consistency.
• Continuously evaluate and recommend new frameworks or libraries for efficiency and scalability gains.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 7+ years of hands-on backend development experience using Java (8/11/17/21) and Spring Boot, Spring Cloud/Security.
• Strong expertise in microservices, distributed system design, and scalable API development.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes (AKS), Docker, and Azure Cloud environments.
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, OpenTelemetry).
• Strong debugging, root cause analysis, and JVM tuning skills (heap/thread profiling, GC optimization).
• Knowledge of messaging systems (Kafka, JMS) and databases (Oracle, MySQL, Elasticsearch).
• Familiarity with AI integration into backend systems (e.g., log anomaly detection, auto-remediation, performance analysis).
• Good to have: experience with

  Elasticsearch

  or Elastic DB for distributed search and log analytics.
• Hands-on understanding of Java Spring Batch and batch-processing frameworks used in retail environments.
• Excellent understanding of secure coding practices, performance optimization, and CI/CD automation.
• Practical expertise in databases (Oracle, MySQL, Elasticsearch) and messaging systems (Kafka, JMS).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to mentor, review code, and set engineering best practices.

• Knowledge and working experience in retail systems and components of retail infrastructure is an added advantage.

Strong command of the English language, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
