Senior Java Developer

Job Purpose

As a Senior Java Developer, you will be part of the server-side development team responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and support of web-based applications comprising the core Exchange Trading Platform. The ideal candidate must be results-oriented, self-motivated and can thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires frequent interactions with project and product managers, developers, QA, and other stakeholders, to ensure delivery of a world class trading platform to our users. As such, there is an expectation that the candidate will be able to overlap part of their working hours with US Eastern time zone.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and development of applications supporting exchange systems.
• Create software unit tests verifying the functionality and quality of the software.
• Create documentation for new software development and subsequent versions.
• Handle project activities related to builds and deployments.
• Provide second-tier production support for 24/7 applications.
• Provide support for deployments during maintenance windows.
• Identify opportunities to improve and optimize applications.
• Work with business analysts or product management in understanding new requirements.
• Follow team guidelines for quality and consistency within the design and development phases of the application(s).
• Follow company software development processes and standards.

Knowledge and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
• 8+ years of strong Core Java experience
• Highly desirable
• Full stack development experience.
• Proficiency in ReactJS, 3+ years of experience
• Working knowledge/experience in ReactJS, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, Webpack, Redux, and related front-end technologies
• Experience with user interface design.
• Knowledge of Gradle / Maven preferred.
• Knowledge of performance testing frameworks, proven success with test-driven development
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented concepts.
• Track record of completing assignments on time with a high degree of quality
• Experience and/or knowledge of all aspects of the SDLC methodology and related concepts and practices.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies preferred.
• Experience working with commodity markets or financial trading environments is desirable.
• Open to learning, and willing to participate in development using new frameworks, programming languages.
