Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Modernization Architect with a strong background in COBOL and RPG on IBM i (AS400) systems. The ideal candidate will support the modernization of legacy green-screen banking applications and work closely with architects and middleware teams to align legacy systems with modern technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze and understand legacy IBM i (AS400) COBOL/RPG applications
Break down green-screen programs into modular, maintainable code
Collaborate with architects to ensure code fits modernization plans
Define data contracts and expose business logic for integration
Write and optimize SQL queries on DB2/400
Explain backend logic and data behaviors to QA and front-end teams
Participate in code reviews and integration testing

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience with COBOL, RPG, and CL on IBM i (AS400)
Proficient in DB2/400 – complex queries, joins, and stored procedures
Good understanding of green-screen UI flows and business logic
Skilled in documenting legacy code and extracting business rules
Preferred: Exposure to REST API integration and middleware concepts
