Senior Engineer - Frontend

As a Senior Engineer, IT Software at American Airlines, you will be part of a diverse, high-performing team dedicated to technical excellence. The Software domain within Information Technology encompasses the development, deployment, management, and maintenance of software applications that support business processes and user needs. This includes activities such as development, application lifecycle management, requirement analysis, QA, security & compliance, and maintaining applications and infrastructure. Responsibilities: - Write, test, and document technical work products according to organizational standards - Raise the quality and craftsmanship of products and systems - Conduct root cause analysis to identify and mitigate domain-level problems - Design self-contained systems within the team's domain - Lead implementations of significant capabilities in existing systems - Coach team members to improve reliability, resiliency, security, and performance - Decompose intricate designs into effectively maintainable implementations - Anticipate trouble areas in systems under development - Define test suites and instrumentation to ensure targets for latency and availability are consistently met in production - Lead vulnerability closure efforts - Evaluate potential attack surfaces in systems under development - Guide teams in implementing best practices to mitigate risks - Identify small batches of work to deliver high value quickly - Advocate for broad reusability in team implementations - Mentor teammates - Introduce new problem-solving approaches as needed Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline - At least 4 years of experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments - Master's degree in a relevant field and experience in the airline industry are preferred qualifications Skills, Licenses, and Certifications: - Proficiency with technologies such as Angular/React, reusable UI components, HTML, JavaScript, Front End, and object-oriented design principles - Ability to optimize solutions for performance, resiliency, and reliability while maintaining simplicity - Clear conveyance of ideas in various forms - Experience working with Agile methodologies and DevOps Toolchain practices American Airlines encourages a sense of pride and satisfaction in contributing to the success of the largest airline in the world while caring for people on life's journey.
