Senior Design Engineer -Mechanical

Job Summary

Design, document and support standard and custom designing of precision machine & machined parts/ fabrication designing involved in the targeted products, site installation of equipment, functional systems, and production support for a variety of products. This position will work with wide variety of product types in coordination with the Design Head and other design teams including PLC Programmers.

The individual in this position will be responsible for new product development, product customization as per customer site specific requirements and product upgrading on a continuous basis.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Result Areas:

• Responsible for overall designing of all precision machined parts of machinery/ fabrication designing of all machinery, accessories and supporting structures if any based on the site requirements
• Timely delivery of effective designing concepts
• Speed of new product development and evolving newer designing concepts
• Cost effective designs

Responsibilities:

• Overall responsible for all designing activities related to precision machined parts/fabrication designing activities and ensuring error free and accurate designs for manufacturing
• Understanding customer requirements, site conditions and planning for designing of special purpose machines, robotic labs and others for Cement, Steel, Other Metals, Minerals and Coal Sectors,
• Development of the precision machined parts of the product meeting manufacturing, safety, quality, cost, compliance and marketing objectives.
• Prepare 3D models using top-down design for 3D CAD files and 2D prints preparation for both manufacturing and servicing, BOMs and technical data release for product documentation along product lifecycle following product engineering guideline concerning the product assigned.
• Support engineering changes, cost reduction projects and competitive analysis tasks.
• Responsible for driving the decision-making process to select solutions that consider simultaneously Design to Cost, Design for Reliability, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly

• Other activities include the following:

- Drafting for SPM - GA Drawings, Assembly and detailed drawings

- Drafting Jig and Fixtures, Part drawings as needed for achieving required quality,
dimensional stability and efficiency in the process.

- Preparation of Process drawings, Process Sheet, Part lists, Bill of Material, specifications
for all parts/ sub-assemblies/ assemblies and provide Production Cost Estimate

- Resolving all engineering errors and manufacturing issues and support engineering
queries, attend process queries.

- Responsible for providing technical clarification to all suppliers and site erection teams

• Project planning, progress tracking and project management to ensure delivery of solutions in terms of design, development, production, factory testing and validating the equipment, installation and commissioning within committed timelines to customers if not ahead of timelines.

Desired Candidate Profile

B Tech/ BE Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering with excellent 2D, 3D troubleshooting knowledge

5 to 15 years of hard-core

Heavy Equipment Designing experience with SPMs, Robotics, Utility Equipment and others

OEM equipment designing and delivering especially automotive components, engine parts, aerospace/ defence equipment

Should be experienced in equipment designing (such as SPMs, Robotics, Utility Equipment, etc)

Proficiency with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, and others.

Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Exceptional time management and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Attentive to detail and critically minded.

The ability to stay abreast of advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
