Senior Design Engineer Automotive Lighting (Rear Lamp / Fog Lamp / Headlamp / Tail Lamp)

Job Summary:

Senior Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the

  design and development of automotive lighting components

  (rear lamp, fog lamp, headlamp, tail lamp) from concept to production.
• Create

  3D CAD models

  and

  2D drawings

  using tools like

  CATIA V5/V6 or Siemens NX

  .
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including

  optical, electrical, and thermal engineers

  for integrated lighting solutions.
• Work closely with

  OEM clients

  for requirement gathering, design validation, and change management.
• Ensure compliance with

  global automotive lighting standards

  (SAE, ECE, FMVSS).
• Conduct

  design reviews

  ,

  tolerance stack-up analysis

  , and

  DFMEA

  .
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing teams for

  tooling feasibility

  ,

  DFM/DFA

  , and production ramp-up.
• Analyze and resolve

  design issues

  , warranty concerns, and engineering changes (ECNs).
• Support

  prototype development

  and

  validation testing

  (vibration, thermal, photometric).
• Document and maintain all design-related technical data in PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, etc.)
  

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree

  in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.

• 6 to 10 years

  of relevant experience in automotive lighting design (especially

  rear lamps

  ).
• Strong expertise in

  CATIA V5/V6

  or

  Siemens NX

  for 3D/2D modeling.
• Hands-on experience in

  plastic part design

  ,

  snap fits

  ,

  ribs

  ,

  bosses

  , and

  light guide integration

  .
• Good understanding of

  lighting optics

  ,

  thermal management

  , and

  electronics packaging

  .
• Knowledge of

  GD&T (ASME Y14.5)

  and

  tolerance analysis

  .
• Familiar with

  lighting validation processes

  and

  regulatory requirements

  (SAE, ECE, DOT).
• Experience in

  design change management

  ,

  ECN/ECR process

  , and

  design documentation

  .
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
