Job Description

As a Design Appraiser at LRQA, located in Mumbai, your role involves assessing the design, manufacture, and in-service aspects of engineering assets using defined Codes, Standards, specifications, procedures, and your knowledge and experience for complex and demanding situations. You may also be responsible for managing projects. **Key Responsibilities:** - Perform complex assessments, provide specialist advice, solutions, and training to internal and external clients within budget constraints and contractual requirements. - Produce deliverables in the agreed format, review and monitor other employees" work as requested. - Pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge. - Assess and recommend the time/value of work for external clients within an agreed fee/cost structure and issue quotations. - Discuss and present deliverables with clients at a senior level and suggest alternative solutions where appropriate. - Assist in improving service delivery based on client feedback and help build the business. - Coach, mentor, and develop technically other employees, share information for effective knowledge transfer. - Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards. - Contribute to internal and external client management by serving as a point of contact to manage client and LR relationships. - Undertake project management, monitor project performance against budget and contract requirements. - Make recommendations to improve service delivery effectiveness through changes to processes or work scope. - Maintain technical competence and ensure competency codes remain valid. **Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:** - Possess a relevant bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent. - Additional higher tertiary degree e.g., masters may be preferred. - Preferably a qualified member of a recognized professional body. - Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience. - In-depth knowledge of design and construction of pressure equipment/cranes/containers. - Proficiency in the use of FEA and calculation software. - Proficiency in the English language (both written and verbal).
