Senior Data Modeler

As a Data Modeler at Sun Life, you will be responsible for designing and implementing new data structures to support project teams delivering on ETL, data warehouse design, managing the enterprise data model, data maintenance, and enterprise data integration approaches. **Key Responsibilities:** - Build and maintain data models to report disparate data sets in a reliable, consistent, and interpretable manner. - Gather, distil, and harmonize data requirements to design conceptual, logical, and physical data models. - Articulate business requirements and create source-to-target mappings with complex ETL transformations. - Write complex SQL statements and profile source data to validate data transformations. - Contribute to requirement analysis and database design, including transactional and dimensional data modeling. - Develop and implement data warehouse projects independently. - Collaborate with data consumers and suppliers to propose standardized data models. - Contribute to improving the Data Management data models. - Present and facilitate discussions to understand business requirements and develop dimension data models based on industry best practices. **Qualifications Required:** - Extensive practical IT and software development experience with at least 8+ years in designing operational data store & data warehouse. - Proficiency in Data Modelling tools like Erwin/ SAP power designer. - Strong understanding of ETL and data warehouse concepts, processes, and best practices. - Ability to write complex SQL for data transformations and profiling in source and target systems. - Basic knowledge of SQL vs NoSQL databases. - Solid business knowledge, technical expertise, excellent analytical skills, and logical thinking. - Good verbal & written communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team environment. **Good to have:** - Understanding of the Insurance Domain. - Basic knowledge of AWS cloud. - Understanding of Master Data Management, Data Quality, and Data Governance. - Basic knowledge of data visualization tools like SAS VA, Tableau. - Understanding of implementing & architecting data solutions using Informatica, SQL Server/Oracle.
