Senior Copyeditor

Job Title: Copyeditor - Senior

Location: Delhi

Review and edit written content, including line editing, to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines. Maintain quality and correctness in written materials, with a focus on non-fiction books.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Review and edit books for clarity, spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, style and adherence to brand guidelines. Ensure consistency in tone, style, formatting, and messaging across all written materials. Familiarise yourself with and adhere to style guides, such as AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, or company-specific guidelines.
2. Conduct research, fact-checking, and verification of information to ensure accuracy and credibility of content.
3. Proofread and revise content to eliminate errors, typos, and inconsistencies before publication.
4. Track changes and revisions using editing tools and software.
5. Meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
2. 10+ years of proven experience as a Copyeditor or similar role in a publishing or editorial environment with a focus on books.
3. Strong command of the English language and grammar rules. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
4. Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot errors and inconsistencies.
5. Proficiency in using editing tools and software, such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or editing software.
6. Knowledge of different style guides, such as AP Style, Chicago Manual of Style, or MLA.
7. Excellent communication, collaboration, organisational, and time management skills.
