Application and Business Support - Hands-On
Lead incident resolution efforts, working closely with development, infrastructure, and cloud engineering teams. Provide support for critical business applications, including diagnosis, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis. Maintain and improve monitoring, alerting, and automation to reduce recurring issues. Provide end-to-end technical and functional support for trading applications.eg: Endur, Trayport Ensure high system availability and rapid incident resolution for front-office users (traders, risk analysts, operations, and schedulers). Manage and resolve L2/L3 application incidents, service requests, and problem tickets in line with SLAs. Liaise with business users, developers, infrastructure, and vendors to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues. Manage and support applications hosted in Microsoft Azure, including but not limited to: Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL / Cosmos DB, Azure Application Gateway Technical Leadership & Development
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for supported systems, guiding development and QA teams during change and release cycles. Lead the code review and release management process for changes impacting supported applications. Develop and implement minor code fixes and enhancements to improve application functionality and reliability. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior support analysts, promoting skill development and knowledge sharing. Continuous Improvement & Automation
Identify opportunities to automate support and monitoring tasks using scripts, tools, or frameworks. Streamline and document business processes to improve efficiency and system usability. Propose and drive initiatives for continuous improvement within the support and development lifecycle. Maintain a comprehensive application support knowledge base, including troubleshooting guides, system configurations, and process documentation.

Essential
Proven experience in application support within a commodities trading environment (preferably oil & gas). Hands-on expertise with Endur (Open Link) and Trayport platforms will be hugely advantageous, including configuration, trade workflow understanding, and integration. Strong technical proficiency in: SQL and database query optimization Scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, or Shell) Windows and/or Linux environments Monitoring tools and automation frameworks Deep understanding of front-to-back trading workflows, including trade capture, risk, scheduling, and settlements. Experience supporting real-time trading environments and managing incidents under time-critical conditions. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in business terms. Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop junior team members. Experience with integration technologies (e.g., APIs, MQ, Kafka, FIX). Familiarity with risk engines, market data systems, or ETRM/CTRM integration. Exposure to cloud-based environments (e.g., Azure, AWS). Knowledge of ITIL principles and structured change management processes.
