Senior Accountant

Role & responsibilities

• Own the Books:

  Take complete ownership of the end-to-end accounting for specific business areas, including managing the general ledger, posting journal entries, and ensuring the accuracy of all transactions.

• Manage the Month-End Close:

  Lead the month-end and year-end closing procedures for your assigned areas, ensuring all deadlines are met with high-quality, audit-ready work papers.

• Serve as a NetSuite Expert:

  Act as a subject matter expert for NetSuite, performing data integrity checks, optimizing workflows, and assisting the team with system-related queries.

• Perform Complex Reconciliations:

  Conduct detailed reconciliations of bank accounts, intercompany balances, and other complex general ledger accounts.

• Ensure Compliance:

  Assist with the preparation and filing of HST/GST returns and ensure all accounting practices comply with Canadian ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).

• Support Financial Reporting:

  Assist the Accounting Manager in preparing accurate and timely monthly financial statements and management reports.

• Drive Process Improvement:

  Proactively identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and leverage NetSuite's capabilities to implement improvements and automation.
• Detail-oriented Staff Accountant with over 5 years of experience, including 3 years working directly with

  Canadian and US-based companies

Preferred candidate profile

• Chartered Accountant (CA) designation

• Deep, hands-on expertise with NetSuite or Sage Intacct is essential.

  You must be able to navigate the system with confidence.
• Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience in a full-cycle accounting role.
• Strong understanding of IFRS. Experience with, or a strong willingness to learn,

  Canadian ASPE is required.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFs).
• Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accountability for your work.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
