Job Description

Reports to: Principal / School Administrator / Senior Accountant

Job Purpose:

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Accounting

Maintain accurate books of accounts (cash book, ledgers, journals, etc.).
Record daily financial transactions and reconcile bank statements.
Manage accounts payable (vendor bills, staff reimbursements) and accounts receivable (student fees, grants, donations).
Monitor and reconcile fee collections with student records.
Ensure timely deposits of school fees and other revenues.

Budgeting & Reporting

Assist in preparing the annual school budget in consultation with management.
Monitor budget utilization and provide variance analysis reports.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Present financial updates to the school management/board.

Compliance & Audit

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (Income Tax, GST, PF, ESI, etc., as applicable).
Support internal and external audits with necessary documentation.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.

Administrative & Support

Coordinate with banks, vendors, and auditors for financial matters.
Maintain inventory and fixed asset registers.
Assist the principal/administration in financial decision-making.
Support fundraising activities, grants, and sponsorship tracking.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Accounting/Finance (Master's preferred).
Minimum 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in an educational institution.
Knowledge of accounting software (Tally, QuickBooks, or ERP systems).
Strong knowledge of MS Excel and financial reporting.
Familiarity with school fee structures and statutory compliance in education.
High integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
