Role & responsibilities 1. Vendor Management & Negotiation: Floating inquiries to vendors, negotiating terms, and obtaining competitive pricing from potential suppliers. 2. Purchase Order Processing: Reviewing and processing purchase orders based on requisitions, getting price approvals from management, preparing purchase orders, and sharing them with vendors. 3. Order Fulfillment & Delivery Management: Scheduling deliveries and ensuring timely fulfillment of orders as per the production requirements. 4. Vendor Evaluation & Performance Monitoring: Evaluating suppliers based on key performance indicators such as quality, delivery timeliness, and cost. Developing supplier scorecards and organizing vendor audits to ensure compliance and performance. 5. Inventory & Re-order Management: Periodic review of inventory levels and re-order points for packaging materials to avoid shortages and reduce excess stock. 6. Internal Coordination: Collaborating closely with internal departments such as PPIC, Production, and PMD to understand packaging material requirements, quality standards, and delivery schedules. 7. Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement: Addressing quality issues related to packaging materials and implementing corrective actions. Keeping track of industry trends to identify process improvement opportunities in procurement. 8. Documentation & Record Maintenance: Maintaining accurate records of purchases, vendor databases, and procurement-related documents for audits and internal use. Skills Required: Technical Knowledge of Packaging Materials: Must be conversant with the technical and functional specifications of all types of pharmaceutical packaging materials including primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging. Should possess a sound understanding of packaging material measurement units. Artwork & Design Understanding: Good knowledge of packaging artwork development, including design, mock-ups, and drawing processes. Should understand the approval process involving internal and external stakeholders. Printing Techniques Expertise: Should be familiar with various printing methods such as offset, digital, flexography, and screen printing. A good grasp of the digital aspects of printing, color theory, color schemes, and color matching is required. Material Familiarity: Knowledge of various printing and packaging materials such as paper, foils, poly-laminated films, HDPE bottles, closures, containers, inks, substrates, and fluting types in corrugated boxes. Should understand their behavior during the printing process. Market Dynamics & Procurement Economics: Understanding of market trends, supplier behavior, and pricing dynamics to support cost-effective procurement.
