Role Overview: As an SDE-2 Backend Engineer at the company, you will be responsible for building high-scale backend systems that support smart email sequences, mailbox warmup, real-time analytics, and more, which are utilized daily by thousands of sales teams globally. Your role will involve architecting microservices, streaming millions of events via Kafka, and optimizing multi-terabyte datasets in MySQL and MongoDB. You will work at the intersection of scale, reliability, and product impact, taking ownership of your services end-to-end. Key Responsibilities: - Design and Ship Scalable Microservices (within 60 days) - Build and deploy new backend services using Node.js with a focus on scalability, separation of concerns, and reusability. - Goal: Ship 12 production-grade services for live flows with clear ownership and on-call readiness. - Optimize MySQL and MongoDB Access Patterns (within 45 days) - Address slow queries, enhance schema design, and reduce DB load through smart indexes and query planning. - Target: Improve average query latency for key endpoints by 30%+ and reduce DB CPU usage on heavy tables. - Handle Real-Time Streams Using Kafka (within 90 days) - Process, partition, and consume Kafka streams reliably with idempotent processing and scale-out consumers. - Outcome: Achieve >99.99% success rate on the core Kafka stream with clean retry behavior and minimal lag. - Strengthen Backend Reliability and Observability (within 75 days) - Enhance service uptime, minimize flaky retries, and integrate robust logging/metrics using Grafana, Tempo, and Loki. - Result: Reduce production escalations for your services by 50% and establish clear dashboards and alerts.
